We take this action to promote and improve State and local development and implementation of career and technical education (CTE) POSs that link secondary and postsecondary education, combine academic and career and technical education in a structured sequence of courses that progress from broad foundation skills to more occupationally specific courses (e.g., the States’ Career Clusters, initially funded and launched by the Department (see https://www.careerclusters.org/ index.php), and offer students the opportunities to earn postsecondary credits for courses taken in high school that lead to a postsecondary credential, certificate, or degree.
