SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Panel was established by Executive Order 13398. The purpose of this Panel is to foster greater knowledge of and improved performance in mathematics among American students, in order to keep America competitive, support American talent and creativity, encourage innovation throughout the American economy, and help State, local, territorial, and tribal governments give the nation’s children and youth the education they need to succeed. The meeting will be held at the Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) Airport Marriott in Baltimore, MD, on Friday, December 14, 2007, and Saturday, December 15, 2007. From 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007, and again from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007, the Panel will discuss the Final Report draft. Individuals interested in attending the meeting are advised to register in advance to ensure space availability. This meeting will not include a public comment session, as the Panel will be concluding its work on the Final Report. Please note that comments submitted to the National Mathematics Advisory Panel in any format are considered to be part of the public record of the Panel’s deliberations, and will be posted on the Web site. The Panel has submitted its Preliminary Report to the President, through the U.S. Secretary of Education. The Preliminary Report is available at https://www.ed.gov/mathpanel. The Final Report will be submitted not later than February 28, 2008, and will, at a minimum, contain recommendations on improving mathematics education based on the best available scientific evidence.
