The ECLS–B is designed to follow a national representative sample of children born in 2001 from nine months of age through kindergarten. The cohort has already been seen at nine months and at two years. The current effort is directed towards seeing them in their kindergarten year. The children turned five in 2006, and while the majority of these children were in kindergarten year in 2006, some of them are repeating kindergarten and some were delayed entering kindergarten. It is these children, who either are repeating kindergarten or were delayed entering kindergarten, who are being contacted in this data collection.
