Pursuant to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) announces a meeting of the Bureau of Economic Analysis Advisory Committee. The meeting will address proposed improvements, extensions, and research related to BEA's economic accounts. In addition, the meeting will include an update on recent statistical developments.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is soliciting comments from the public on its new prototype estimates of Puerto Rico Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which includes statistics for consumer spending, private fixed investment, inventory investment, net exports of goods and services, and government spending for Puerto Rico. BEA seeks comments on the statistics' data sources, presentation, level of detail, and scope. Following the public comment period, BEA will incorporate feedback, updating the statistics and related materials for Puerto Rico GDP.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is giving notice of a meeting of the Federal Economic Statistics Advisory Committee (FESAC). The Committee advises the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs, the Directors of the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Census Bureau, and the Commissioner of the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) on statistical methodology and other technical matters related to the collection, tabulation, and analysis of federal economic statistics. The Department of Commerce, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, invites the general public and other Federal agencies to comment on continuing information collections related to the Expenditures Incurred by Recipients of Biomedical Research and Development Awards survey from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

This proposed rule would amend regulations of the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) to renew reporting requirements for the mandatory BE-180 Benchmark Survey of Financial Services Transactions between U.S. Financial Services Providers and Foreign Persons. This survey will apply to the 2019 fiscal reporting year. This mandatory benchmark survey, conducted under the authority of the International Investment and Trade in Services Survey Act, covers the universe of transactions in financial services and is BEA's most comprehensive survey of such transactions. For the 2019 benchmark survey, BEA proposes several changes in the data items collected and the design of the survey form.

The data collected on the BE-9 survey are needed to measure U.S. trade in transport services and to analyze the impact of U.S. trade on the U.S. and foreign economies. This survey is authorized by the International Investment and Trade in Services Survey Act.

This survey is authorized by the International Investment and Trade in Services Survey Act.
