Section 5-6 - Auxiliary Escape

(a) All derricks shall be equipped with a specially rigged escape line, of at least one-half inch (1/2") diameter wire line or other escape devices acceptable to the Department. It shall be in good condition, without kinks, broken wires or a coating of grease. Line shall be secured by three (3) clamps at the derrick and at least one (1) clamp at the anchor.

(b) The derrick escape line shall be equipped with an approved- type personnel carrier with a brake, both in good working order, to control the rate of descent. The angle of the anchored escape line shall not be less than 45°to the vertical plane.

(c) The derrick escape line, or other device, shall be anchored to the derrick so that the personnel carrier shall be available at a readily accessible point at either the rod board or the tubing board.
