Chapter 9 - HYDROGEN SULFIDE (H[2]S) GAS
Section 9-3 - Employee Instructions

(a) Employees shall be instructed in the use of H2S safety equipment to be provided on site.
(i) The instruction of
personnel shall include, as a minimum, the following elements:
(A) The characteristics of
H2S and its hazards.
(B) Proper first-aid procedures to be used in
a H2S knock-down.
(C) Use of personal protective
equipment.
(D) Use and operation of
all H2S monitoring systems.
(E) Corrective action and shutdown
procedures.
(ii)
H2S safety instruction shall be given by a qualified
person(s).
(iii) Signs shall be
posted 500 feet from the location, when possible, on each road leading to the
location warning of the hazard of H2S.
(iv) All H2S safety
equipment shall be checked to assure readiness before each tour
change.
