Section 26-18 - Interpretation Services

(a) Interpreters shall adhere to national standards developed by the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare (NCIHC), to include accuracy, confidentiality, impartiality, role boundaries, professionalism, professional development, and advocacy.
(b) Covered Services. The interpretation provider shall only bill for time spent with the client.
(i) Excluded services. Interpreter services
in conjunction with the following services:
(A) Inpatient and outpatient
services;
(B) Services in an
Intermediate Care Facility for persons with Intellectual Disabilities
(ICF/ID);
(C) Nursing Facility
services;
(D) Ambulance Services by
public providers;
(E) PRTF
services;
(F) Comprehensive
Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility Services;
(G) Services provided by other agencies and
organizations receiving federal funding;
(H) Interpreter services provided by a family
member, volunteer, associate, or friend; and
(I) Reimbursement for interpreter travel to
and from the appointment.
