Section PI 34.077 - Alternative education program

(1) AUTHORIZATION. A license issued under this section authorizes an individual to teach in an alternative education program under s. 115.28(7) (e), Stats., as follows:
(a) The individual may teach in an
alternative education program in the license area of the underlying teaching
license.
(b) An individual holding
an elementary and middle school teaching license under s. PI 34.045 may teach
the basic skills of reading, language arts, and mathematics to high school age
students for high school credit if the grade level of the curriculum taught
does not exceed the grade 9.
(c) An
individual holding a teaching license issued under subch. VI may teach outside
the license area if the instruction is provided in collaboration with an
individual who meets all of the following requirements:
1. Holds a license in the subject matter and
grade level of the class.
2. Will
be responsible for assessing pupils' educational needs.
3. Will be responsible for prescribing
teaching and learning procedures.
4. Will be responsible for evaluating the
effects of the instruction.
(2) ELIGIBILITY. The state superintendent may issue an alternative education program license to an applicant who meets all of the following requirements:
(a) The applicant
holds a teaching license under subch. VI.
(b) The applicant completed an approved
program and received an institutional endorsement.
