Title 127 - LEGISLATIVE RULE WEST VIRGINIA SECONDARY SCHOOL ACTIVITIES COMMISSION

Section 127-5-11 - Awards - Robotics

11.1. Only a member school or a school sponsoring a sanctioned event may give the following awards to a student or team: medal, trophy, cup, certificate, ribbon, plaque, unattached letter, unattached chevron, or any similar award.

11.2. A student may accept on an individual or team basis the above specified awards in the following situations:

11.2.a. from a member school for participation; or

11.2.b. in a sanctioned event.

11.3. A student may not receive the following awards with a retail value that exceeds $100.00:

11.3.a. apparel - sweaters, jackets, jerseys, shoes, etc.;

11.3.b. equipment - radio, televisions, etc.;

11.3.c. robotics goods;

11.3.d. money (scholarships to institutions of higher learning are exempted).

11.4. Purchase of an item as identified in § 127-3-5.3, whereby any portion is donated by a school, booster club, auxiliary agency, or any other group or organization cannot exceed the specified limit.

11.5. Nothing in § 127-3-11 shall be interpreted to affect the recognition of scholarship or scholastic achievements.
