Title 126 - PROCEDURAL RULE BOARD OF EDUCATION

Section 126-171-2 - Resolution

2.1. WHEREAS, the national energy shortage, while presently of undetermined magnitude, is affecting the operation of the public schools and such effects are deemed likely to continue throughout at least the present winter,

2.2. WHEREAS, there is conflicting and contradictory information emanating from Washington, and

2.3. WHEREAS, the West Virginia Board of Education is responsible for determining the educational policies of the State and for making rules for carrying into effect the laws and policies of the State relating to education, now therefore be it

2.4. RESOLVED, that the public school system is to assume its fair -- but not an inordinate -- share of the nation's efforts toward energy conservation, and be it further

2.5. RESOLVED, that agencies responsible for public education are directed to take such actions as are necessary to

1) conserve energy to the maximum degree consistent with the offering of a thorough and efficient educational program, and

2) offer instruction concerning the nature and extent of the nation's energy needs and measures that should be taken to conserve energy.
