Section 126-94-23 - Disclosure to Certain Federal and State Officials for Federal Program Purposes

23.1. The Comptroller General, Secretary, or state and local educational authorities may have access to education records in connection with the audit or evaluation of federal or state supported education programs, or for the enforcement of or compliance with federal legal requirements which relate to these programs.

23.2. Except when written consent of the parent of a student or an eligible student has been obtained for disclosure, or when the collection of personally identifiable information is specifically authorized by federal or state law, any information collected under section 23.1 shall be protected in a manner that does not permit the personal identification of students and their parents by other than those officials, and personally identifiable data shall be destroyed when no longer needed for such audits, evaluation, or enforcement of or compliance with federal and state legal requirements.
