Section 126-92-6 - Regulations for Transporting Homeless Students

6.1. County boards shall ensure compliance with Subtitle B of Title VII of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, 42 U.S.C. 11431, et seq. (McKinney-Vento Act) when addressing the needs of homeless children. If a homeless child or youth continues to live in the area served by the county board in which the school of origin is located, that county board shall provide or arrange for the child's or youth's transportation to and from the school of origin.

6.2. If the homeless child or youth continues his/her education in the school of origin but begins living in an area served by another county board, the county board of origin and the county board in which the homeless child is living shall agree upon the method to apportion the responsibility and costs for providing the child with transportation to and from the school of origin. If the county boards cannot agree upon a method, the responsibility and costs for transportation are to be shared equally.
