Section 126-85-96 - Coordinated Review Effort (CRE) Areas

96.1. The CRE critical areas include performance standards 1 and 2. The two performance standards are designed to address accountability and nutritional integrity of child nutrition programs as identified by existing management and monitoring tools available to the USDA.

96.2. Critical areas.

96.2.1. Performance Standard 1 includes: eligibility certification, benefit issuance, updating eligibility, counting and claiming and lunch counts combined and recorded correctly.

96.2.2. Performance Standard 2 includes: Availability of meal components to all students and verification that all observed lunches claimed for reimbursement contain the required number of food items.

96.3. General areas.

96.3.1. The CRE review includes additional areas of program operations that are important for program accountability. These are: free and reduced price process, meal patterns, civil rights, monitoring responsibilities and reporting and recordkeeping.
