Section 126-85-26 - Product Analysis Sheets and Child Nutrition Labels

Current through Register Vol. XLI, No. 38, September 20, 2024

26.1. When commercially prepared food items, especially breaded, frozen, protein items, are purchased for use in the school lunch program, a product analysis sheet or Child Nutrition (CN) label must be on file in the school kitchen. For example, in the case of pizza, the product analysis sheet should specify the exact amount of meat and cheese per portion. A CN label on commercially prepared individual portions clearly identifies the contribution of a product toward the meal pattern requirement. If this information is not available, the prepared item may not be counted to meet the component requirements since the item's contribution to the meal pattern is unknown.

26.2. A CN label will always contain the following:

26.2.1. The CN logo which is a distinct border.

26.2.2. The meal pattern contribution statement.

26.2.3. A 6-digit product identification number.

26.2.4. USDA FNS authorization.

26.2.5. The month and year of approval.

26.2.6. Sample Label Statement.
