Section 126-44P-1 - General

1.1. Scope. -- W. Va. 126CSR42, West Virginia Board of Education (WV BE) Policy 2510, Assuring the Quality of Education: Regulations for Education Programs (Policy 2510), provides a definition of a delivery system for, and an assessment and accountability system for, a thorough and efficient education for West Virginia public school students. Policy 2520.16 defines the alternate academic achievement standards for grades K-12 in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities, as required by WV BE Policy 2510.
1.2. Authority. -- W. Va. Constitution, Article XII, §2, W. Va. Code § 18-2-5 and § 18-2E-1.
1.3. Filing Date. --October 12, 2017.
1.4. Effective Date. --July 1, 2018.
1.5. Repeal of Former Rule. -- This legislative rule repeals and replaces W. Va. 126CSR44P, WV BE Policy 2520.16, Next Generation Alternate Academic Achievement Standards for Science in West Virginia Schools, filed October 15, 2015, and effective July 1, 2016; W. Va. 126CSR44V, WV BE Policy 2520.161, Next Generation Alternate Academic Achievement Standards in English Language Arts for West Virginia Schools, filed July 11, 2014, and effective August 11, 2014; and repeal of W. Va. 126CSR44W, WV BE Policy 2520.162, Next Generation Alternate Academic Achievement Standards for Mathematics for West Virginia Schools, filed July 11, 2014, and effective August 11, 2014.
