4.1. The West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE) has the responsibility for establishing high-quality standards pertaining to all educational programs. The West Virginia College- and Career-readiness Programs of Study/Content Standards provide a focus for teachers to teach and students to learn those skills and competencies essential for future success in the workplace and further education. The document includes West Virginia college- and career-readiness programs of study/content standards by Career Cluster and Pathway; Simulated Workplace protocols; Advanced Career Education (ACE) programs of study; standards for participation in a co-curricular career technical student organization (CTSO); changes to student performance measures; definitions and acronyms; and West Virginia Education Information System (WVEIS) prefixes for each cluster.
