Section 388-147-1625 - What requirements must I follow when I transport children?

(1) Transportation you provide must be safe, reliable, and in compliance with law and contract requirements.
(2) The driver of the vehicle must:
(a) Have a valid driver's
license; and
(b) Be covered under
an automobile liability insurance policy.
(3) The vehicle must:
(a) Be kept in safe operating
condition;
(b) Be equipped with
seat belts, car seats and booster seats, and/or other appropriate safety
devices for all passengers as required by law. All persons in the vehicle must
use the restraint system when the vehicle is in motion; and
(c) Contain first aid supplies.
(4) There must be at least one adult other than the driver in a vehicle when:
(a) There are more than five pre-school age
children in the vehicle;
(b)
Staffing requirements or your contract requires a second staff person;
or
(c) The child's specific need
requires a second adult.
(5) Buses approved by the state patrol are not required to have seat belts.
