Section 388-145-1490 - What is the pre-service training requirement for staff and volunteers having direct care responsibility to children/youth?

(1) Prior to having unsupervised contact with children, staff and volunteers must have a minimum of sixteen hours of pre-service training, including policies and procedures, job responsibilities and facility administration. This requirement is in addition to required first aid and cardiopulmonary training (CPR) in WAC 388-145-1500 and required HIV/AIDS/blood borne pathogen training in WAC 388-145-1505. Pre-service training must be relevant to the type of children and families and the program services you provide. Pre-service training will usually include the following:
(2) New staff and volunteers must work shifts with fully trained staff until the new staff and volunteers have completed all required training.
