Section 296-806-40510 - Use a work rest for off-hand grinding

EXEMPTION: You do not need to use a work rest if:
1. The size, shape, weight or finishing area of the workpiece prevents its use; or
2. Contact with the grinding wheel below the horizontal plane of the spindle is necessary.

(1) You must use a work rest to support the work.

(2) You must make sure the work rest is:

(a) Rigidly constructed.

(b) Adjustable to compensate for wheel wear.

(c) Adjusted only when the wheel is stopped.

(d) Securely clamped after each adjustment.

(e) Kept within one-eighth inch of the wheel.
