The department may verify information contained in applications and secure additional information deemed necessary to make a reasonable determination as to whether to issue a license and whether any special conditions should be attached thereto by visiting the facility or location where radioactive materials would be possessed or used, and by discussing details of the proposed possession or use of the radioactive materials with the applicant or representatives designated by the applicant. Such visits may be made by the department or its duly authorized representatives.
