The physician assistant shall exercise their professional judgment in selecting appropriate treatment modalities for acute nonoperative, acute perioperative, sub-acute, or chronic pain including the use of multimodal pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic therapy as an alternative to opioids whenever reasonable, clinically appropriate, evidence-based alternatives exist.
