Section 212-17-225 - Application for license

(1) Application for license must be made on forms prepared by the state fire marshal and must be accompanied by the annual license fee.
(2) Every applicant for a pyrotechnic operators license must:
(a)Take and pass a written
examination administered by the state fire marshal or the equivalent out-of-state
exam;
(b) Submit evidence attesting
to the qualifications and experience of the applicant, including participation in
the firing of at least six public displays as an assistant, at least one of which
must have been in the current or preceding year, for the type of operator's
license they are applying for; and
(c)A name and date of birth background check
through the Washington state patrol criminal records division. Costs for the name
and date of birth check will be the responsibility of the applicant. A name and
date of birth check is not required if:
(i) The
person has a valid ATF explosives license; or
(ii) They are employed or contracted to
supervise a display for a general display licensee that has an ATF explosives
license and the applicant is listed as an approved employee possessor.
(3)All information submitted regarding the experience must be true and accurate.
(4)Penalties for violations of this section are provided in WAC 212-17-515.
