Current through Register Vol. 41, No. 3, September 23, 2024

AGENCY SUMMARY

The Boards of Education, Juvenile Justice, Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, and Social Services are charged with regulating facilities operating under their regulatory authority. With the exception of the Department of Social Services, the regulations of these agencies are generally located in other titles of this administrative code (Juvenile Justice - Title 6, Education - Title 8, and Behavioral Health -Title 12). These agencies provide a variety of programs to meet the needs of children in residential care, and many facilities are subject to regulation by more than one department. These agencies have joined together under this joint agency number (22VAC42) to provide a consistent set of regulations for children's residential facilities in order to (i) protect the children who are separated from their families and reside in children's residential facilities and (ii) ensure that a minimally acceptable level of care, treatment, and education are provided by such facilities. Code of Virginia, Title 16.1, Chapter 11, Article 12.1; Title 22.1, Chapter 16; Title 37.1, Chapter 8; Title 63.2, Chapter 17, Article 5; Title 66, Chapters 1 and 2.
