AGENCY SUMMARY
The Board for Branch Pilots is a separate agency within the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. The director of the department acts as the board's secretary and administrative officer. Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 3. The board is authorized to license branch pilots and limited branch pilots, promulgate regulations for their proper government, and prescribe penalties for violations. It may decide any controversy between pilots or between a pilot and the master, owner, or consignee of any vessel, and may enter money judgments. Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 9.
