AGENCY SUMMARY

The Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects is a separate agency within the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. The director of the department acts as the board's secretary and administrative officer. Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 3. The board is authorized to license or certify individuals and to register business entities for the practice of architecture, professional engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture; to certify interior designers; to set standards for licensure or certification and for professional conduct; and to promulgate regulations for those purposes.
