LOCATABLE ADDRESSING RULE FOR ENHANCED 9-1-1

This rule applies to any municipality that elects to participate in the statewide enhanced 9-1-1 system.

Section 1.1 Road Naming and Numbering

(a) Road naming and numbering of all public and private roads within town boundaries shall be created, updated, and completed according to the standards defined by the Enhanced 9-1-1 Board. (Contact Enhanced 9-1-1 Board for a copy of its standards.)

Section 1.2 Geographic Information Systems GIS Data and Mapping

(a) If a municipality that has elected to participate in the enhanced 9-1-1 system chooses to use a Geographic Information System (GIS) to facilitate road naming and numbering it shall conform to relevant standards established by the Vermont Center for Geographic Information, Inc. (VCGI) of Chapter 8 of Title 10 V.S.A.

* spatially-referenced databases used to provide enhanced 9-1-1 services;

* the procedures for defining, creating or updating such databases;

* maps that display these data; and

* other matters relating to the use of geographic information systems (GIS).

Section 1.3 Grandfather Clause

(a) The Board may, for good cause, grant exceptions in particular cases to any provision of its standards.
