4. Financial Responsibility Insurance
(a) A person will be
relieved from actually filing proof of financial responsibility with the
Department of Motor Vehicles after three years from the accident, conviction or
judgment giving rise to the obligation. In the event of a suspension or
revocation that requires mandatory filing under T-23 § 801, an operator
shall not be relieved of the obligation to furnish proof of financial
responsibility until three years after his or her eligibility date.
(b) The only proof of insurance which will be
accepted is the SR-21A certificate attached to an accident report or SR-21
filed by the insurance company to show proof of proper liability insurance
coverage at the time of the accident and FR-22 or SR-22 certificate for proof
of financial responsibility for the future. A telegram or facsimile signed by
the authorized agent of the insurance company will be accepted in-lieu of an
SR-21, FR-22 or SR-22 certificate for a period of seven (7) days.
