Universal Citation: VT Code of Rules 10 040 001

Current through August, 2024

Section I WAIVER OF WRITTEN EXAMINATION FOR HANDICAPPED APPLICANTS NOT APPLYING FOR STATE EMPLOYMENT THROUGH THE EQUAL ACCESS PROGRAM (SECTION II)

A fully qualified handicapped applicant who meets the minimum education and/or experience requirements for a position may request a waiver of the required written examination for that position if he or she has a severe disability (such as blindness, motor impairment, learning disability, or deafness) which adversely affects the ability to score well on a written examination but which may not affect the ability to perform on the job.

The Commissioner of Personnel may request documentation from the Director of Vocational Rehabilitation indicating the extent of the applicant's handicapping condition and supporting the waiver request. If a waiver of written examination is granted, the applicant may be tested by means of an interview panel or a rating of training and experience. A waiver of the written examination is not an absolute waiver of the examination process.
