Rule R714-161 - Equipment Standards for Motorcycle Safety Inspections
Section R714-161-16 - Exhaust System

(1) When inspecting the exhaust system of a vehicle, the inspector shall:
(a) check the exhaust system for proper
operation; and
(i) advise the customer when
joints are loose, broken, or if any leakage exists; or
(ii) issue a rejection inspection certificate
when:
(A) components are not properly mounted
or supporting brackets are not secure;
(B) the muffler has been removed or is not
functioning properly;
(C) any
muffler cutout or bypass is used; or
(D) the exhaust system has been changed or
modified and is not as effective as OEM specifications.
