Section 452.8 - Employee Training and Education

(a) With the approval of the executive director, the commission may make available to its administrators and employees funds for training that improves the performance of the employee's current or prospective duty assignment in accordance with the State Employees Training Act, Government Code, Chapter 656, Subchapter C.

(b) In order to be eligible for Agency supported training, the administrator or employee must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the executive director that the training is related to the duties or prospective duties of the administrator or employee.

(c) Eligible training expenses that are approved by the executive director may include, as appropriate, salary, fees, travel and living expenses, and/or training materials for the following:

(1) in-service training and education; and/or

(2) out-of-agency staff development.

(d) The commission may pay all or part of the expenses related to training as determined by the executive director, and may be adjusted at any time for any reason.

(e) An employee who completes training to obtain a certification for which the commission has provided all or part of the required fees must agree to remain in the employment of the commission for a period of time as specified in the commission's Employee Policy and Administrative Procedure Manual.

(f) The commission may impose such terms and conditions as may be reasonable and appropriate, including but not limited to, specifying the circumstances under which the assistance may be terminated and the employee may be required to repay the amount of assistance.
