Section 749.1461 - What consent must I obtain to administer medications?

(a) You must obtain a general written consent to administer routine, preventive, and emergency medications.

(b) You must obtain a written, signed, and dated consent, specific to the psychotropic medication to be administered, from the person legally authorized to give medical consent before administering a new psychotropic medication to a child, per § 749.1603 of Title 40 (relating to If my agency employs or contracts with a health-care professional who prescribes psychotropic medications to a child in care, what information must I provide the person legally authorized to give consent before requesting his consent for the child to be placed on psychotropic medication?) or § 749.1605 of Title 40 (relating to If my agency does not employ or contract with the health-care professional who prescribes psychotropic medications to a child in care, what information must I provide the person legally authorized to give medical consent prior to the health-care professional prescribing psychotropic medications to a child in care?).
