Section 748.1531 - What general medical requirements must my operation meet?

(a) A child in your care must receive medical care:

(1) Initially, according to the requirements in § 748.1223 of Title 40 (relating to What are the medical requirements when I admit a child into care?);

(2) As needed for injury, illness, and pain; and

(3) As needed for ongoing maintenance of medical health.

(b) The child's record must include a written record of each medical examination that consists of:

(1) A copy of the results of the medical examination;

(2) The follow-up treatment recommended and any appointments scheduled;

(3) A notation of the child's refusal to accept medical treatment, if applicable;

(4) If the medical examination is a result of an injury or illness, the documentation of the date, time, and circumstances surrounding the injury or illness; and

(5) Any other documentation provided by the health-care professional who performed the examination.

(c) For a child in the conservatorship of the department, you must supplement any information already documented in the child's health passport in order to comply with subsection (b) of this section. In your written record for the child, you are not required to repeat information that is already in the child's health passport.

(d) You must obtain follow-up medical treatment as recommended by the health-care professional.
