Section 564.510 - Client Transportation

(a) The facility shall have a written policy on the use of facility vehicles and/or staff to transport clients.
(b) If the facility allows the use of facility vehicles and/or staff to transport clients, it shall adopt transportation procedures which include the following.
(1) Any vehicle used to transport a client
must have appropriate insurance coverage for business use with a current safety
inspection sticker and license.
(2)
All vehicles used to transport clients must be maintained in safe driving
condition.
(3) Drivers must have a
valid driver's license.
(4) Drivers
and passengers must wear seatbelts at all times the vehicle is in operation as
required by law.
(5) A vehicle
shall not be used to transport more passengers than designated by the
manufacturer.
(6) Drivers shall not
use cell phones while driving.
(7)
Use of tobacco products shall not be allowed in the vehicle.
(8) Every vehicle used for client
transportation shall have a fully stocked first aid kit and an A:B:C fire
extinguisher that are easily accessible.
