Section 1.222 - Definitions

The following words and terms, when used in these sections, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.

(1) Commissioner--The commissioner of the Texas Department of Health.

(2) Department--The Texas Department of Health.

(3) Donation--A contribution of anything of value (financial or in-kind gifts such as goods or services) given to the department for public health purposes or to a private organization which exists to further the duties or functions of the department. The department may not accept donations of real property (real estate) without the express permission and authorization of the legislature.

(4) Employee--A regular, acting, exempt, full-time or part-time employee of the department.

(5) Private donor--One or more persons or private organizations which give a donation to the department for public health purposes or to a private organization which exists to further the duties and purposes of the department.

(6) Private organization--A private organization which exists to further the purposes and duties of the department.
