Section 1.131 - Purpose

The purpose of these sections is to provide a definition of the term "special waste from health care-related facilities (SWFHCRF)," approve methods for the treatment and disposition of the waste, identify the entities that are subject to the provisions of these sections, and provide for the orderly application of the sections to covered entities. Although these sections provide for the methods of treatment of SWFHCRF, they do not require sterilization of the waste as a measure of adequate treatment.
