Section 10.233 - Eligibility

(a) General Eligibility.
(1) Eligible institutions
include public institutions of higher education that offer upper-level academic
instruction and training in the fields of nursing, allied health, or other
health-related education.
(2)
Institutions or components identified under Texas Education Code, §§
63.002(c)
and
63.101, are not
eligible to receive funding through the grant program.
(3) Eligible programs include nursing, allied
health or other health-related initiatives, including those that expand
existing academic programs, develop new or existing activities and projects,
and are not funded by state appropriation during the funding period.
(b) Alternative eligibility criteria through August 31, 2027.
(1) For the
fiscal biennium ending on August 31, 2025, and the fiscal biennium ending on
August 31, 2027, eligible programs include programs at two-year institutions of
higher education, four-year general academic teaching institutions,
health-related institutions, and independent or private institutions of higher
education, or a nursing resource section established under §
105.002(b)
of the Health and Safety Code that prepare students for initial licensure as
registered nurses or programs preparing qualified faculty members with a
master's or doctoral degree.
(2)
The Coordinating Board shall prioritize institutions proposing to address the
shortage of registered nurses by:
(A)
Preparing students for initial licensure as registered nurses; or
(B) Preparing qualified faculty members with
a master's or doctoral degree.
(c) Institutions and programs shall meet any other eligibility criteria set forth in the RFA.
