Section 0465-02-08-.03 - PERSONNEL AND STAFFING

(1) The licensee shall provide: one (1) Direct Support Staff member for the first ten (10) persons supported; two (2) Direct Support Staff members for eleven (11) to fifteen (15) persons supported; three (3) Direct Support Staff members for sixteen (16) to twenty (20) persons supported. When more than twenty (20) persons are supported, one (1) additional Direct Support Staff member shall be provided for each additional twenty (20) persons supported present.
(2) The licensee shall ensure that employees practice infection control procedures that will protect persons supported from infectious diseases.
(3) Employees shall be screened or tested for tuberculosis according to the procedures of the Tennessee Department of Health. Documentation of such screening or testing shall be maintained in the employee's personnel file.
(4) Prior to contact with a person supported, employees shall receive documented orientation to the specific needs of any person supported to whom the employee is assigned.
(5) At least one (1) staff member shall be on duty who is trained in First Aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the Heimlich Maneuver.
