Section 0400-02-09-.16 - BUFFER AREAS

Buffer areas shall be established around Archaeological Areas wherever possible in order to eliminate the adverse effects of external influences. Such areas may be devoted to uses other than archaeological preservation which do not adversely effect the Archaeological Area. Buffer areas may be controlled by ownership, easement, cooperative agreement, and other appropriate means. Criteria for buffer areas shall be included in the Master Plan. Authorization is given for the establishment of buffer areas in Tennessee Code Annotated, § 11-1801 et seq.
