The overall length of a LCV, authorized by § 70:03:01:60, may not exceed 110 feet except for truck-trailer combinations which may not exceed 85 feet.

Semitrailers and trailers may not exceed 48 feet each when used in tractor-semitrailer-semitrailer, tractor-semitrailer-trailer, or truck-trailer combinations. Semitrailers and trailers may not exceed 28 1/2 feet each when used in tractor-semitrailer-semitrailer-semitrailer or tractor-semitrailer-trailer-trailer combinations. Tractors and trucks may not exceed 45 feet.

The LCV must be operated within the weight limits provided in SDCL 32-22-16 and 32-22-16.1 and may not exceed a gross weight of 129,000 pounds. The weight on a steering axle may not exceed 600 pounds per inch of tire width. The weight on all other axles may not exceed 500 pounds per inch of tire width. All axles must be equipped with four tires, with the exception of the steering axle.
