The utilization control team shall establish an individual's need for nursing facility care by reviewing the individual's medical, nursing, social, and mental health needs. The individual must require professional nursing services in addition to the provision of or assistance with personal care activities or medications.
The utilization control team shall, at least annually, redetermine whether or not the individual continues to need nursing facility care for a mental disease.
