Real or personal property essential for self-support is excluded from resources if it is used for the individual's trade, business, or employment. If the property is normally used for these purposes but is not currently being used because of circumstances beyond the individual's control, the property is excluded from resources when there is a reasonable expectation that the use will resume within 12 months from its last use. If the property is not being used because the individual is disabled, the property is excluded from resources when there is a reasonable expectation that the use will resume within 24 months of its last use.
