If the department has good cause to believe that a document presented by an applicant is a fraudulent document or a valid document issued to someone other than the applicant, the department may deny the application or issue a temporary permit while it investigates the matter. If an application is denied or a driver license or identification card is canceled as a result of the applicant presenting any fraudulent documentation, the driver license or identification card remains denied or canceled until the secretary of public safety determines that that the applicant has provided sufficient documentation.
