Floors shall be easily cleanable and shall have the wear resistance appropriate for the location involved. Floors in kitchens and related spaces shall be water-resistant. All areas where floors are subject to wetting shall have a nonslip finish. A walking surface that is not flush with an adjacent surface shall be provided with a transition. A change in level up to one eighth inch may be vertical and without edge treatment. Changes in level between one eighth inch and one half inch are to be beveled with a slope no greater than 1:2. A change in level may not exceed one half inch. Gaps in the walking surface may not exceed one half inch wide in the direction of travel.
