Section 41:09:12:06 - Application procedure for licenses issued for a reduced fee based on total disability and other qualifications

A person with a total disability as defined in § 41:09:12:05, or who otherwise qualifies for a resident hunting and fishing license at a reduced fee pursuant to SDCL 41-6-10.2, and who desires to be issued a hunting and fishing license at a reduced fee must apply to the licensing office in Pierre, South Dakota. The application shall be on forms provided by the department. An applicant with a total disability as defined in § 41:09:12:05 shall provide with the application proof of South Dakota residency and a written statement from a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, or chiropractic currently and validly licensed by the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners or Board of Chiropractic Examiners or from a doctor of optometry currently and validly licensed by the State Board of Examiners in Optometry that verifies the applicant has a total disability as defined in § 41:09:12:05. In lieu of a written statement from a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, or chiropractic, any person who has a developmental disability as defined in SDCL 27B-1-18 may submit an official letter or form from the South Dakota Department of Social Services that documents the person's developmental disability and the person's eligibility for services. For subsequent applications, a conservation officer in the county of the applicant's residence may verify the applicant's total disability in lieu of the doctor's statement. Any other applicant pursuant to SDCL 41-6-10.2 shall provide proof of South Dakota residency and compliance with the statutory requirements.
