Each education specialist candidate must have an adequate understanding of the professional knowledge expected in the candidate's field and delineated in professional, state, and institutional standards. Each candidate must know the candidate's students, families, and communities, treat all students fairly and provide each student with a reasonable opportunity to learn, and shall use current research to inform the candidate's practices, use technology in the candidate's practices, and support student learning through the candidate's professional services.
