The required courses and experiences of a 5-12 mathematics/science composite program shall meet the requirements of one of the specific science education programs set forth in the most recent edition of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) standards, inclusive of the NSTA secondary science content recommendations for the applicable science program and the applicable science education content requirements of § 24:53:07:10, and shall meet the most recent edition of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) standards.

The program shall require candidates to demonstrate the content, pedagogical, and professional knowledge and skills identified in the NSTA standards, the applicable science education program requirements, and the NCTM standards and to demonstrate competency on the multiple assessment measures of chapters 24:53:04, 24:53:05, and 24:53:06.
