A regionally accredited institution with approved education programs may request approval for certification-only programs for teacher candidates who have completed at least a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution or for administrative candidates or education specialist candidates who have completed at least a masters degree from a regionally accredited institution. Certification-only programs are modifications of the study and experience requirements of any education program of article 24:53. Certification-only programs incorporate the applicable preparation standards and requirements for admission, matriculation, and exit from such programs, but allow an institution to accept previous demonstrations of knowledge and skills judged to meet satisfactorily those preparation standards or program requirements.

Institutions shall recommend candidates for certification after successful completion of the certification-only program.
