Section 24:28:17:18 - Renewal requirements for an education specialist certification

The education specialist certificate is valid for five years. Within the five-year validity period, applicants for renewed certification shall:

(1) Adhere to the South Dakota Code of Professional Ethics for Teachers pursuant to chapter 24:08:03; and

(2) Complete either:

(a) National Certified School Counselor or Nationally Certified School Psychologist certification or recertification; or

(b) Six education-related credits that consist of any combination of transcripted credits, specialized learning experience hours, or continuing education contact hours.
