Section 24:28:12:13 - Requirements to complete an advanced CTE alternative certificate effective July 1, 2019

The applicant for an advanced CTE alternative certificate shall:

(1) Complete a minimum of 15 transcripted credit hours from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education with a grade of C or higher in the following: two credits in methods of CTE; a four-credit mentored internship experience completed in the first year of employment; three credits in South Dakota Indian studies; and six credits in classroom management, teaching methods, student assessment, differentiated instruction, or adolescent psychology;

(2) Pass the state-designated pedagogy test;

(3) Adhere to the South Dakota Code of Professional Ethics for Teachers pursuant to chapter 24:08:03; and

(4) Receive signoff from the applicants employing public or Department-accredited school.

These requirements are effective July 1, 2019. Prior to July 1, 2019, the applicant may complete the requirements of this section to obtain advanced CTE alternative certification.
