Each school bus driver, with administrative authorization, shall conduct emergency evacuation instruction and drills for school bus riders at least twice a year and three times a year for Headstart students. The driver shall give an emergency evacuation drill or talk-through before each activity season. The school bus operator shall maintain a log containing the dates and times of drills. Additional emergency procedures must comply with the section entitled "Emergency & Rescue Procedures" on pages 171 to 173 of the National School Transportation Specifications & Procedures, 2015 Edition. Additional Emergency Evacuation procedures are also included in the South Dakota CDL Manual under the section titled "School Buses," Section 10.
